Town’s first meeting against the Robins took place way back in 1912-13 at Leeds Road in the FA Cup Round 2. In front of around 17,000 Macaulay scored in a losing 1-2 cause. He was transferred to Preston North End at the end of the season. The next FA Cup meeting came in the season 2002/03 at the County Ground, watched by 4,210, when a late strike sank a poor Town side which proceeded to lose to the same team at the Mac the following week in the league by a 2-3 score. There have not been many games between the two sides, but with the exception of the FA Cup and the Play Off final, the Terriers have generally been second best. At home The Terriers have just matched the Pirates, but away they have been woeful with only 1 win in 14 attempts. Read the rest of this entry »

The Dale was actually founded in 1907, a year before Town. Yet in all that long history, the two sides have met only 18 times; 12 times in the league, twice in the FA Cup, with one replay and once in the League Cup. Read the rest of this entry »

The first meeting, at Huish Park, on 21st October 2003 saw an early goal for the home side cancelled out by a Stead goal just before half time. The home side scored another goal early in the second half and that was that. Holland, Sodje and Worthington all found their way into the referee’s bad lads book. Read the rest of this entry »

Not too many games have been played between the two sides. The first meeting came in the FA Cup Round 3 on 24th January 1966. Played at Leeds Road, in front of the best gate ever – 24,505 – Town won easily 3-1. John Quigley scored 2 goals and Tony Leighton netted the third. Quigley stayed with Town only a short time and scored only 8 goals in his 70 games plus 1 substitute appearance. Read the rest of this entry »

The O’s are a much older club than the Terriers, originating in 1881. The teams met when Town joined the League in 1910 and played until Town won promotion to Division 1 in 1920/21. Town did not enjoy spectacular success in this period; the record was H 3-3-0 6-2, A 1-2-3 4-8. The opposition was known as Clapton Orient then and played at Lea Bridge Road. The first ever game took place on 12th November, 1910 away and Town lost 0-2. The approximate gate was 12,000. The return fixture, on 18th March 1911 ended up the other way with Town winning 2-0 (Macauley, Richardson) with only about 4,000 watching. Town won its first double in the promotion year of 1919/20 winning 2-1 and 1-0. Read the rest of this entry »

The first ever game against these visitors came in the FA Cup Round 1 in 2009/10. Town turned on a brilliant display of attacking football and after an early Williams free kick almost identical to one the previous Sunday against Oldham opened the scoring after 9 minutes Town never looked back ran out comfortable 6-1 winners with further goals from Novak(2), Roberts(2) and Rhodes. The only slight blip was a late consolation from the Daggers. The gate was poor with only 5,858 bothering to turn up. They missed a treat!

This will, of course be the first league meeting between the sides and Town’s first visit to Victoria Road.

The Daggers have struggled all season since promotion and at home they have had only modest success. Their four wins have come against 4 Sep Orient 2-0, 2 Oct Swindon 2-1, 1 Feb Brentford 4-1 and 12 Feb Yeovil 2-1. They have lost to Bristol 0-3, Oldham 0-1, Saints 1-3, Rochdale 0-1 and Franchise 0-1. Draws were gained against Tranmere 2-2, Exeter 1-1, Walsall 1-1 and Hartlepool 1-1.

On paper this should be an away banker, but we are talking about Huddersfield Town. Still undefeated in the league this year in 9 games with an away record of 2-2-0 11-6 the Terriers should be fairly confident after the Saturday come back late on and although I have wrong most of the season in my forecasts I’ll stick my neck out again and suggest Town will win 3-0.
