Town first met AFC Bournemouth, which in an earlier life was known as Bournemouth & Boscombe Athletic, in the middle of The Great Slide in 1973/74.
The first series of meetings in Divisions 3 and 4, as they accompanied Town down into the basement, were not auspicious for the Terriers. In the first 4 seasons not one win was earned, there were 4 home draws 3 0-1 away defeats with a 1-1 draw in the second meeting. Read the rest of this entry »

Divisions are shown in old form. Scores are at full time or after extra time.
As you can see Town’s record is reasonable away from home, great on neutral territory and lousy on home soil.
The troubling point is that of the other Play-Off teams only Franchise FC has been beaten this season (twice), AFCB games both ended in draws and the Posh took 4 points off Town this season.
It is fortunate that Town will not play AFCB at home on a Saturday because not only has Town not won a home play-off game but Town’s home record this season for Saturday games is not exactly sparkling this year. Since 11th December when Town beat Brighton 2-1 there has not been even one Saturday home win, as 6 consecutive Saturday home games have been drawn.
Town has been perfect on Tuesday evenings but, unfortunately, the AFCB home game is on Wednesday!
Based on history Town MUST win the away game as a draw seems the most likely result at home.

Thanks to Terrier Army, Holy Roller Novakine and Pompey Terrier, we have been able to put together a 2010/11 Season Preview that surpasses those being done by the national press (mainly because they didn’t tip Town for an unbeaten promotion-winning campaign). Also included are Admin Predictions; some insightful, some (un)funny and some non-existent. Enjoy! Read the rest of this entry »
