Jamie McCombe

Jamie McCombe

Giant central defender who joins Town 3 years after brother John left us. He came through the youth set up at Scunthorpe United and was still in his training scheme when he made his Scunthorpe debut and was signed up to a professional deal just 3 games in to his career. Despite being a regular early on he soon found himself out of the first team picture and, after a loan spell at Halifax, was allowed to join Lincoln City on a free. After two years at Sincil Bank he came to the attention of Bristol City who signed him in May 2006 and he became a key player in their promotion to the Championship in 2007, but found playing chances progressively limited during the next 3 years. After being told by Steve Coppell that he didn’t feature in his plans he joined Town on a three year deal.
