Anthony Pilkington

A winger or striker who was part of the youth set ups at Preston, Manchester United and Blackburn. Stockport County picked Pilks up from non-league side Atherton Collieries in December 2006 and he made an instant impact by scoring three times in his first four games shortly after signing. His first League goal came in a 2-0 home win over Notts County and he went on to score five in his first season at Stockport. He scored another eight goals the following season, including one in the play-off Final, as Stockport County earned promotion to League One. His performances for County during the first part of the 2008/09 season caught the eye and convinced Lee Clark to part with £350,000 to bring him to Town on a three and a half year contract.
