Peter Clarke

Experienced central defender who is also Towns club captain. The Southport born player started his career at Everton, where he made just 14 appearances during a three year spell. During his time at Goodison he spent time at Blackpool, Coventry City and Port Vale on loan. It was during his loan spell at Blackpool that Peter scored his first goals of his career, he scored twice in a 5-2 win at Bloomfield Road over Luton Town. During this time he debuted for the England U21’s, where he would go on to captain the side. He made a permanent move to Blackpool in September 2004 for £150,000 and would go on to make 93 appearances for the Tangerines, he would also go on to to become club captain. He joined then Championship side Southend United in time for the start of the 2006/07 season, however Southend ended the season relegated to League One. In 2008/09 he was voted Southend United’s player of the year, before becoming Lee Clark’s second Summer signing on a three year deal. He was made captain at Town in his first season, where he went on to pick up Player Of The Year.
